A teacher of one of Jones' children received the following after assigning them to write a story on any topic they chose. It puts into perspective the harsh reality of how Gulf War Illness impacts the children it touches:

The God Blessed Box

One gray cloudy day, I was waiting for my friend to call but he didn't, so I took a walk. I had walked for a good while when a tiny white box fell from the sky! When it landed I ran towards it and opened it when I got there. Inside the box were green gel tabs, beside that was a note.

Dear son,
I am sorry that you and your family are sick from the illness. These gel tabs are the cure for your sickness. I have watched carefully and there are approximately 250 gel tabs for 250 sick soldiers and family.
Sincerely Yours,
The Lord

I had to go, so I told my dad that and left enough gel tabs for my family, I will take mine last after I know all the Gulf War Illness people had the cure. After I had walked a mile or two in the woods I tripped over a tree stump and saw a dirt bike, I guess to make my traveling easier. I looked at the dull white box and though how grateful I was for this gift. All of a sudden the box was silver and had green stripes.

I opened the box and the gel tabs grew dimmer and dimmer, I knew I had to go. I started the bike and was off. I had given all the tabs away and there was one more left for me. I had grown weak and tired. I slowly opened the box with my shaky hand and picked up the small tab.

I knew I was dying so I threw it in my mouth. A lot of people admired me and wanted to give me money but I said no. I had been a savior just like my special friend or The Man Upstairs.

This story is dedicated to my family and many other families that are suffering from Gulf War Illness. May God Bless them and watch out for them.

You know God will help you and save you like he did me in the story. God will come through and be with you. If you read the bible you will understand. God has came through for a lot of people including somewhat my family, but I know he'll come through in a matter of time.
